Artist, Angie Matte has become well-known in the
Los Angeles and Orange County, California art community
as "the bird-of-paradise china painter". She acquired a love for china painting many years ago as she watched an elderly woman who proudly boasted about her hand-painted dinner set.
In 1983, the Orange County Fair hosted an arts and crafts china display. It was then that Angie decided to develop her skill as a china painter. She met her first china painting instructor at the fair that year. Angie attended private classes focused on color applications and techniques. Following many years of studies, Angie was recognized as a professional china painter when she earned her first ribbon at the Orange County Fair. As Angie submitted her pieces at numerous competitions, she continues to be recognized for her exquisite talents. The artist currently works from her studio in Yorba Linda, CA, but continues to showcase her pieces at the Orange County and Los Angeles Fairs.
It was the elderly woman many years ago proudly showing off her pretty dinner set and her first china painting instructor that gave Angie her inspiration and a love for china painting. It is that inspiration that Angie extends to her students. |
